20 inch hub motor conversion kit for electric bike

Q: I have looked at your leaf motor and want to buy one bike kit includes hub motor wheel, BLDC motor controller and twist grip throttle. I am looking at a 20 inch wheel with 1000 Watt hub motor, but I think that one may not be enough to handle the load. I am looking to build a three wheeled vehicle and look at the possibility that I may need to power 2 or all 3 of the BLDC hub motor wheels to achieve my goals. I am thinking of building two or three of these three wheeled vehicles. What can you do to help? A: Thanks for you are interested in electric bike conversion kit . For my personal idea, use a 20" 1000w brushless hub motor to convert a front wheel, front drive is much better. If possible, order two sets of 20" 1000w BLDC hub motors with one high power brushless motor controller to convert two rear wheels - rear drive. It’s no problem with forward and reverse. But when you turn left or turn right, you will get a little trouble. Only under much lower speed can turn left or right. Convert two wheels that is enough. If you always ride on flat road, only convert one front wheel. Q: I was thinking the 20 inch 1000 Watt bike conversion kit as exampled. What I had vision was to use 3 BLDC motor controllers, but using one on front and one larger for the 2 rear hub motor wheels may make things easier. For turning it is easy to not worry about differential control on the rear wheels, such as turn radius larger than 5 M differential on the rear wheels is not consequential as centerline width is app 720 mm. It would be very easy to turn the inside wheel off by disconnect, or turn the rear drive off all together and let the front wheel do the deep turning. So what I need is real pricing for three sets of bike conversion kits includes three BLDC hub motors, two BLDC motor controllers. One 1000 W for front, and the other 2000 W for the two rear hub motor, or what is possible to have one 3000 watt drive to run three brushless hub motors? Please note that the vehicle will need a lot of power to traverse some of the steep ramps and terrain. It seems that the 1000 W hub motor seems to have app 17 Nm torque and that would mean that three would have just enough torque to carry the load. A: We suggest you order below bike conversion kits : 1.3 sets of 20" 48V 1000W hub motors (one for front, the other two for rear hub motor) 2.1 set of 48V 1000W LCD BLDC motor controller to drive front wheel, LCD display speed, battery gauge. 3.1 set of 48V 2000W brushless motor controller to drive two rear wheel 4.2 set of thumb throttle, one of left side to control front wheel, the other on right side to control right wheel(when turning, loose right side throttle, just twist left side thumb throttle) 5.1 set of brake lever to control three controller, when press lever, all of three controller will cut off power 6.1 set of three button switch used to control reverse, horn, lights Hub motor, BLDC motor, bike kit, bike conversion kit supplier: Leaf Motor Technology Co., Ltd Website:https://www.leafmotor.com

12 inch BLDC hub motor for electric bike ?

I'm in need of a simple installation electric bike motor for a special application. The subject BLDC motor look that will perfect fit our needs. I am ready to order the first to complete the prototype, but will appreciate your advice if will work properly under the following conditions: 1. Max torque 15 Kg-m 2. Speed 0 to 10 Km/ h 3. Distance between charge batteries 5 Km Important is smooth start motion (no shaking) I understand the HBL-12" 24V 250W hub motor is good for the working conditions On your internet site for this size electric bike motor there is technical performance for the 36 V model only. I need only 5 Km range between battery charges. But very important is the star movement from stop (0 Km/h) very smooth, slowly start to move otherwise possible damage of the airplane nose wheel if start move quickly and shaking. Then the question, will 36 V brushless hub motor be better than 24 V ?Since 36 V have smaller currents I have the feeling will perhaps be better starting to move more smooth and slowly... Will be great the customized low speed. But please note that this special application, not yet a commercial product, then in the last phase of development. Will you customize low speed electric bike motor at the present stage of just one unit ? Looking all your products, the choice was your Model:HBL-12" 24V 250W hub motor because so simply installation. But also, although is not our preferred solution because much more complicated installation, could be your Stepper DLDC motor, which in this case the speed can be defined by the ratio of the gears, and the diameter of the wheel (which in our case is important to be small since the device shall be below the airplane... Max 12 inches but smaller is better...) Maybe the Stepper DLDC motor have the advantage of very smooth start motion ? It is our concern to have a very slow and smooth start motion... Actually from your specifications you give for the max torque of 16000 (the point we are most interested) 243 rpm at 18 Amps, which is for a 12 inch wheel about 14 Km/h, then is very near our 10 Km/h. We believe, if we do not read wrong your performance data for the 36 V HBL 12 inch electric bike motor as it is specified is OK... Please correct me if wrong. The fact that the motor will be capable of much high speed we believe should be not a trouble, we can easily put a limitation of the speed. Still extremely important is the smooth and slow increase speed from 0 Km/h (stop) with no shacking, but we understand this is related to the BLDC motor controller, which we will test but feel should be not a problem. We need as precise as possible to control smoothly the speed from stop 0Km/h to max 10 to 15 Km/h... with slow increasing speed and keep low speed 2 to 5 Km/h .Then NOT AT ALL "on" and "off" ! Another important issue is the torque. We need minimum 15 Kg-m torque, better if 20 Kg-m... ( 147 to 196 Newton meter)- Here is a big doubt with the numbers on your performance data since indicated mN.m 16000.0 ? if lower figures could be difficult start motion when in surfaces as grass. Then I need to order not only the hub motor but also the relevant BLDC motor controller and electric bike battery. When you say 36 Volts make no difference but preferred in Europe. I choice 36 Volts... as you say... but if 24 Volts is better, off course we change to 24 Volts... we need the better solution. Normally the device speed shall be about 5 to 8 Km/h... for safety reasons... and torque between 147 to 196 Newton meter at 0 Km/h to start motion. issue about electric bike kit battery

We purchased an electric bike kit including motor controller, hub motor wheel, throttle, brake lever and with 36V 10AH bottle style Lithium Ion electric bike battery that used for testing 36V solar charger from one supplier, not from leaf motor. After charging this electric bike battery for 10 hours by better solar power, full charged, we rode the bike, but hub motor wheel only run about 8km. Then we use 110-230Ac charger to charge this electric bike battery and full charged it. After test, we found this hub motor wheel is still lasted for around 8km. We use a ampere meter in series to electric bike kit system, powered on and rode it. We got the current is about 5A. The RPM is 257RM.We use 26” hub motor wheel. We calculate the speed is about 32Km/per hour. See below formula: (3.14×26”×0.0254)× 257RPM × 60 minutes ÷ 1000 (m-Km)=32km If this is 10Ah battery, per hour lost 8ah.We can use 1.25 hours. See below formula: 10Ah ÷ 8ah/per hour= 1.25hours We think full charge this electric bike battery per time, the hub motor wheel can run about max 40 km. 32km/per hour × 1.25 hours = 40 km There is definitely a problem with this electric bike battery, I’m not sure whether electric bike kit is because of the solar charging or our testing, or if it has a fault. But I need a replacement electric bike battery asap, because we don’t have any more 36v electric bike battery, and we sold 1 set of electric bike kit with li battery last week. I think BMS inside this electric bike battery no problem. The problem comes from the li battery cells. Maybe this electric bike battery had stayed in warehouse for a long time and haven’t charged it. It will make the electric bike battery cut down the achieve distances and use life. So if solve this problem and let my hub motor to work asap, only replace all cells or replace new electric bike battery. We are angry with our supplier, sent them many emails and no any reply. Thank you, leaf motor. Help us found the electric bike battery ‘s problem. We are going to order leaf’s products in near future. The hall sensor is a transducer that varies its output voltage in response to a magnetic field. Hall sensors are used for proximity switching, positioning, speed detection, and current sensing applications. Three phase BLDC motor has three hall sensors inside that are used for electric bike widely.
36V 250W brushless geared motor is popular in Europe, but in North America, people like 36V 750W hub motor more. More and more people order and enjoy these two types of DC hub motors that are called classic electric bike motors. Now they have received by most of customers because of good quality.
But when ride this hub motor bike and climb hill for a long time. Sometimes over current or over head will break motor controller's MOSFET or hall sensor.
Hall sensor is broken. The hub motor can't work. Unless your controller can drive sensor-less motor. Buy a new motor, cost more.
Replace hall sensor, cost less. Below we first instruct one type of 750w electric bike motor .
If hall sensor is broken, power on battery, you will find battery gauge works, horn works, lights work, everything is good, except when you turn your throttle, the hub motor wheel can't run.
Step 1:
Retest this hub motor and make sure it does be broken. Do you have voltmeter?
Still connect all wires and power on.
First measure 6-pin hall sensor plug, the voltage as below:
1.The voltage of red and black is about 4.5V;
2.The voltage of yellow and black is about 4.5V or 0V;(use hand to turn hub motor, the voltage will change from 0V-4.5V)
3.The voltage of green and black is about 4.5V or 0V;(use hand to turn hub motor, the voltage will change from 0V-4.5V)
4.The voltage of blue and black is about 0V or 4.5(use hand to turn hub motor, the voltage will change from 4.5V-0V)
If you can get above data it's no problem with bike conversion kit system. If the voltage of Item 2 (yellow and black wires)can't change from 0V-4.5V,Please replace this hall has a yellow wire connect.
You should prepare some tools and material:
1.Hexagon wrench (Necessary)
2.Hammer (Necessary)
3.Screwdriver
4.electric iron
5.A-B glue
6.insulated paper, insulated wire
7.scissors
8.New hall sensor
Step 2:
Take off nuts and gasket on axis and use hexagon wrench to loose 16 screws.
Step 3:
Make the electric bike motor stand and cable is bent inside. Left hand hold the hub motor and use hammer to knock the axis.
Step 4:
After some knock, the cover will take off hub.
Step 5:
Use the same way to knock the other axis, the other cover will also take off hub.
Step 6:
When both side covers are off hub, next we should take out the rotor-winding. Make the axis stands on the ground, both hands press hub motor, the rotor-winding will out of hub.
Step 7:
There are three hall sensor in three grooves around the rotor.
Use scissors to remove insulated wire and insulated paper. You will find 9-pin(three hall sensor)connect to PCB on rotor-winding. Each hall has three pin: 1:+ , 2:- ; 3:signal
For example:
Hall A: 1:+ , 2:- ; 3:Yellow wire
Hall B: 1:+ , 2:- ; 3:Blue wire
Hall C: 1:+ , 2:- ; 3:Green wire
Step 8:
Just now had known yellow wire hall sensor was broken. Please use electric iron to remove Hall A and use A-B glue to fix new hall sensor. Use insulated paper, insulated wire to fix PCB. Then re-build this hub motor.
Step 9:
Test as step 1.If can get the data from each hall sensor. Congratulate.
Power on battery, the hub motor wheel works.
